In view of the positive developments in the nuclear program of Iran, the Chinese have decided to improve their presence in the Iranian auto market and are determined to compete with their Western rivals. However, their continued presence in the market depends more than anything else on producing high quality cars which is the main demand of Iranian clients.
Speaking at a press conference in Tehran, Zhou Biren, vice-president of Chery Automobile Co., said: "Our presence in Iran is aimed at producing high quality yet economical cars. We will strive to speak it in action." He further added that his company is eying for a larger share of Iranian auto market and is making every effort to reach higher sales and gain a larger market share. "We believe that our products should be of highest quality," he said. Zhou noted that his company intends to manufacture over 1 million vehicles in Iran in the current Iranian year (starting March 21). He stressed that Iran's auto market is among the world's most profitable due to its location in the Persian Gulf.
The Chinese official announced his company's readiness to turn Iran into its export hub. "With an annual production of 22 million vehicles, China is the world's biggest auto manufacturer," he said. He noted that Chery was successfully competing with credible international brands in Chinese market in which competition is very tight and hard and that he saw no obstacles as to competing with the same brands in the Iranian market.
