Joško Klisović, deputy foreign minister of Croatia travelled to Iran alongside a commercial delegation to explore economic and trade opportunities and held talks with Valiollah Afkhami, the director of Iran Trade Promotion Organization. Afkhami said he sees the recent visit of the Croatian delegation as an excellent opportunity for Iran to manifest its production potential as well as a mutual occasion for extending relations.
The director of Iran Trade Promotion Organization described the cooperation of the two countries on international exhibitions as the ultimate solution for boosting collaboration and exchange of knowledge. Afkhami spoke positively of Croatia joining the European Union and stressed that Iran and Croatia need to sign more cooperation agreements under the new political and business environment.
"The volume of transactions between the two countries was disappointingly low in the past few years, but Iran extends hands towards Croatian companies for further commercial cooperation." Said Afkhami.
Regarding Iran-Croatia commissions, deputy minister of industry, mine and trade declared: "Holding frequent economic joint-commissions will certainly expand mutual relations."
Deputy foreign minister of Croatia also spoke of boosting relations with Iran and announced: "We seek new investment opportunities to restore productive relation with Iran. Croatia eagerly looks forward to reaching new accords and the Croatian government is ready to back Iranian firms and manufacturers."
Hossein Noghreh-Kar, secretary general of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture also spoke favorably of the two countries' healthy relation over the past three decades and said: "Iran and Croatia possess tremendous potentials and capabilities that need to be exploited. Unfortunately, we are yet to reach full potential of trade transactions between the two nations, but we are confident to strengthen ties with Croatia in near future."
Noghreh-Kar added: "We cannot suffice to mutual collaborations. Iran's potential and exceptional strategic position in the Middle East provides us with a remarkable opportunity to explore trilateral cooperation. Exploiting huge potentials of oil, gas and petrochemical industries, cooperation with Croatia's shipbuilding industry and collaboration in the field of sea transportation in Caspian Sea, and Persian Gulf are the key areas of cooperation with Croatia."
