The following highlights the main findings related to Iran and other top ranking countries in the said areas.
Eni reported that Iran's oil reserves reached 154.5 billion barrels in 2012 experiencing 2.3% growth in comparison to the previous year. Iran's crude oil production volume restored to pre-sanction period
In his latest interview with ISNA, Petroleum Deputy Minister of Iran hoped that in view of exports and production improving trends, daily oil production would be restored to the ceiling in pre-sanction period by the end of the year. As to recent remarks by the Minister of Petroleum regarding the plans to increase production to more than 5 million barrels, he added that the increase is envisaged in the ministry's four-year roadmap of which 4.7 million barrels would account for crude oil and the remaining for gas condensates.
Based on Eni's 2012 report, world oil reserves have grown in 2012 by 2% in comparison to 2011. The figure for the period 2000 to 2012 is 2.6%. Surpassing Saudi Arabia, Venezuela ranked first in terms of proven oil reserves with estimated 297.5 billion barrels. In the meantime, Saudi Arabia with 267.9 billion barrels and Canada with 173.1 billion barrels came second and third respectively. Iran's proven oil reserves ranked forth accounting for 9.4% of world's oil reserves. While Russia scored the most significant increase in oil reserves by 33.3% in 2012, those of Iraq fell by 1.2%.
It seems that Eni's estimation of Iran's crude oil export at 1.8 million bpd in 2012 is the highest figure in the past 3 years indicating that Iran has yet to restore oil production to that level as the highest figure reported for 2014 still stands at 1.6 million bpd in February.
Eni further reports that gas sales in 2012 witness 0.3% growth reaching 9.59 billion cubic meters. While Iran's oil exports is reported to drop by 36% in comparison to 2011, Saudi Arabia with 9.1, Russia with 7.07 and UAE with 2.6 million barrels of oil respectively rank the first three countries in terms of oil exports volume, followed by Canada, US, Nigeria, Kuwait, Iraq, Venezuela and Netherlands.

In the meantime, in the period 2000-2012, Iran's gas production rose by 8.6% in total. As to exports, Iran stands 20th in global ranking. With an output of 665.8 billion cubic meters in 2012, the US, overtaking Russia, sits on top of the list of the 10 largest gas producers. Ranked second, Russia slightly decreased its domestic gas output by 2%. Qatar, in the meantime, ranked third with 169.3 billion cubic meters. Based on the report, the 10 largest gas producers produced 2.2 trillion cubic meters of gas per day in 2012. These countries are as follows: US, Russia, Qatar, Iran, Canada, Norway, China, Saudi Arabia, Algeria and Indonesia. World gas production in 2012 has risen to 3.3 trillion cubic meters experiencing 1.8% growth in comparison to 2011.

According to Eni's latest report, Saudi Arabia holds first place in global oil production ranking with 11.5 million bpd produced in 2012. Russia sits second with 10.7 million bpd and the United States ranks third with 9.1 million bpd. Iran's oil production accounted for 1.4% of total in the world coming right after Saudi Arabi. UAE followed Iran in the third place.
